I want to go to curly beach...

Michael Leunig

sometimes I go to curly beach
and walk the winter sands
and feel the whistling winter winds
of those who'd chill me

but I'll take my little curly shell
and keep it to my ear
so when I feel the distant warmth
the gentle summer distant warmth
I'll know my world is clear

Two Sides of Africa

It seems ironic that Damien Glez's cartoon image of a gold FIFA soccer cup
appeared in the shape of South Africa in 2010.
South Africa was the first African nation to host the final of the FIFA cup.
It was also the first time that the host nation was eliminated in the first round.
Glez is from Burkina Faso (until 1984 - Republic of Upper Volta) in West Africa.

Cartoon: africa (medium) by Medi Belortaja tagged leaves, leaf, africa, drying, poor, poverty, hunger, hungry
But Medi Belortaja - August 26 2011
produced this image of Africa -
symbolising poverty and hunger.
His view was from Tirana, Albania.

Le cartoon
However Glez did produce this cartoon as well.

Father... why do we follow...

Father...

why does mother follow
her same track every day
a track
over hills
and across valleys
with no apparent meaning
except giving her milk
to those along  the way

and
why so carefully father

ending with us at the end of the day

so why
do you need
to ask

peace keepers

but

a wooden dove
can only promise
wooden peace

Motoring News

Michael Leunig

when the melancholy shadows weep
and sleep eludes my soul
then I pedal to the nearest field
and reach for my stars

down I lay in a boat on the bay...

Michael Leunig

As I lie in a boat on the bay
And I'm carried far far away
May the cloth of new dreams
Find no use for seams
As they tackle my brand new day
