The Force Awakens...

The Force Awakens by Shlomo Cohen

You do have your moments.
Not many, but you have them...

You see the new dawn on a new horizon
and know
that the time has come
to let the force
be with you

Search your feelings...

Do you sense
The circle is now complete

The galaxy is on the verge of
a new freedom
a new justice

I see a new city
in the clouds

Laugh it up, fuzzball...

dry Africa...

Dry Africa - Tomas
- produced for the LSE Africa Summit 2015

if you look closely
you may see
a leaf or two
but no green leaf

if you look closely
the boughs
seem to hug one another
for support

and one could be broken

but
it is clear
no one
is branching out

if you look closely
there is no sign of
bird life
no nest

it is clear
no one
lives

just some
horse-like creature
seems prone
taking a long
long
rest
hooves
begging
in the dying sun

if you move back
and slowly focus
you see
the eerie dark bones of
Africa
calling
faintly

offering some empathy

perhaps
to Greece

soliloquy for strange times...

the teachers may not know what they do

but I do

I'm making dreams for two

one dream for the happy me
and one for the sadder self

we'll keep each other company
these dreams
these parts of me

many words don't make sense
or hurt
these days

but dreams
thread
shape
colour

and
walk on

all my father left me was the moon...

Michael Leunig
(today would have been my father's birthday)

and just a gentle nudge
if you want to make me happy

always

look up

do our leaves fall
on fertile ground

will we
flower
next spring

daylight savings...

Michael Leunig
(tomorrow, Daylight Savings on the eastern seaboard of Australia ends)

have a little dip in
have a little smile in
have a little dream in
the stars beyond your goal

beyond the cover
turn the leaves
taste the seasons

Cry for Freedom...

Cry for Freedom
Cry for Freedom - Alex Falco Chang in Pakistan...

it's a new year

but it's an old cry for freedom

it's a new year

praying
it's the season

to be free

Peace Starts With an Individual

Peace Starts with an Individual - Arcadio Esquivel in Costa Rica

it's a new year

let your freedom

grow
